  32. Kermit is slow when it's set up with paranoid parameters like 97-byte
  33. packets, etc.  Usually this is a result of a non-columbia implementation
  34. of the protocol or not reading the book.

  36. Slow is a relative thing, too.   Some file transfer protocols fail 
  37. completely (speed = 0) where kermit works fine when set up properly.

  39. At best it performs as well or better than almost all competitors.

  42. It's _very_ good at communicating between different operating system
  43. platforms and through routing/gateway situations where control chars
  44. wreak havoc with most file transfers.
